Novels, Writing and What-not

Welcome to Glen Barrera’s not-very-fancy website. My first novel, The Assassin Who Couldn’t Dance, has been followed by A Capable and Wide Revenge and Sweet Peach, all within the thriller genre. Recently published (and for something completely different and a stretch of the wings) is the dystopian fantasy novel Carly Nowhere. 

Writing and What-not?

As a writer, I write. Along the way I’ve created some short pieces that happened to strike me at the moment. They’ve been sitting within my laptop, forgotten. I’ll share some of those along with the occasional blog post.

About me?

I’m a former partner in a real estate appraisal company. Over the years I’ve edited a company newsletter, written short stories (one of them a contest winner) and poetry. It wasn’t until a few years ago, however, that I finally found time to take writing courses while working on my first novel.

I grew up in Chicago, with college at Western Illinois University, College of DuPage and the University of Illinois, Chicago. I studied Isshinryu Karate for fourteen years, sailed for seven years out of Burnham Harbor, Chicago, and have played classical and blues guitar. A Chicago boy at heart, I now live in a western suburb.
